Michelle and Lefefe were married on August 13, 2011 at the beautiful Newcastle Golf Club.
Michelle and Lefefe come from a Samoan family and this was our first time being a part of this type of wonderful cultural wedding. We always enjoy cultural weddings and learning all about their customs and embracing them! One of their traditions is to invite all of their siblings and cousins to be members of the wedding party. In the case of Michelle and Lefefe that meant a wedding party of over 40 people! This was (and may always be) the biggest wedding party we’ve ever photographed. It definitely took some coordination, but we had a blast with everyone. One of our favorite parts from the day was when we took everyone out to the big hill on the golf course and covered the entire top of the hill. Then we had everyone chase Michelle and Lefefe down the hill for a super fun sequence.
Of course before all the fun began we started at 6am in the morning for hair and makeup as it was going to take some time to get over 20 girls ready! We had a blast hanging out at the hotel in the morning, then we headed to Newcastle to start our fun photo time with them starting with a really sweet first look with Michelle and Lefefe.
Another part of the Samoan culture is to change outfits several times during the day. Michelle spent most of the day through the family pictures after the ceremony in a beautiful white wedding dress, Then right after family pictures Michelle changed into an amazing green wedding dress for all of the main “western” reception activities. A very unique and Samoan activity they did at their wedding was to provide a cake for every table and members of the wedding party served it to each table. This was also the main centerpiece for each table. After the cake was served Michelle and Lefefe changed again into more traditional Samoan outfits for their Samoan dance and activities.
It was a very unique event to be a part of and we were honored to participate in their day. We hope you enjoy seeing some of our favorite moments from their wedding day.
