MaKaley and Joe were married on July 9, 2011 at the very scenic Edgewater House in Gig Harbor, WA. It is a very unique venue built for weddings. They have guesthouses for the bride and groom so that they can stay there the night before and have a great place to get ready in the morning. They built a ceremony location that overlooks the water and the beach and even built a "honeymoon shack". The cutest little set made out of driftwood from the beach. Oh and I can't forget to mention the rope swing which is a must to do in your wedding dress! What is more fun than having your groom swing you while your wedding dress flies around you! :-)

We met MaKaley and Joe at the Tacoma wedding show and then when they came to our place to chat further we also got to meet their new puppy Lola. Lola and her brother were a part of their engagement session when we shot that last November. They couldn't be a part of the wedding day, so that was a great way for them to still include the puppies, since they were the star of their save the date cards.

MaKaley was definitely a "DIY" bride. She made her own invitations and enlisted family and friends to help her create their decor, flowers, cake, and even provide the entertainment for the reception. And it all came together beautifully!

We had such a fun time with them and their wedding party running around the property and the beach that we even ended up in the water later in the day (after the ceremony of course). ;-) The ceremony was really sweet and very family oriented. They even released butterflies to remember those family members that are no longer with them. And it was really cool because most of the butterflies stayed throughout the day to watch the festivities, making me feel like their family members were there with them in spirit.

MaKaley actually changed dresses during her reception which helped her be more free to party more with everyone, so before the outfit change, that's when we headed down to the beach for a little impromptu "trash the dress" session in the water. Not only did Joe get in the water, but so did all of MaKaley's bridesmaids! It was so much fun and a wedding day first for us.

Here are some of our favorite moments from their wedding day...

We just love the use of blue throughout everything in their wedding decor. It really felt like a "beachy" color for sure.

I love how the bridal party were all able to stay on the property the night before and be together to get ready. And yes Joe wore cowboy boots!

They are such a fun and playful couple. Can you believe they got in the water? And how cute is MaKaley's second dress?

We've had some great wedding party's over the years, but these girls were so awesome. They really wanted to get in the water and have fun with MaKaley! It is always great when we see wedding party's that really have the bride and groom in their heart and take care of them and help them have a wonderful wedding day!

We've only seen the butterfly ceremony one other time and it is a very beautiful and emotional moment during the day. Also, check out the way they made sure to get everyone to be remembered on their wedding day with a great group shot right after the ceremony!

They had quite an incredible first dance that included lifts, major lifts!

I hope you enjoyed seeing part of MaKaley and Joe's wedding day. Please let us know what you think.
